Grand County School District is continuing the tradition of honoring its exemplary teachers and staff for their longevity in service to education.

The 2019-2020 school year has been incredibly hard on many families in Moab. As a results, our district has thousands of dollars of unpaid lunch debt. Many people have asked us how they can support the School Lunch Program and GCSD Child Nutrition Programs as we continue to feed hundreds of children every day. Paying down this lunch debt is the best way to do that! By donating to pay off negative lunch balances, you can help support struggling Moab families as well as the GCSD Child Nutrition Program. All donated funds are directly credited to negative student accounts, so the impact is immediate. Donations can be made online or in cash or check at the GCSD office at 264 S 400 E. Please indicate that your donation is for unpaid lunch debt. The community support in Moab is part of what makes this such an amazing place to live and it really proves that we are #STRONGERTOGETHER.

Grand County School District’s Children Nutrition Program food service staff is the 2019-20 Friend of Education for Grand County School District.

Friend of Education is an award given to a community group each year that has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service for the Grand County School District. The Child Nutrition Program was nominated by school employees and selected by the Grand County Board of Education for being “amazing as they have prepared and delivered thousands of meals these past weeks.”

Over 55,000 school meals have been served in the community since schools closed on March 16 due to Covid-19.

Grand County High School English Teacher Alanna Simmons-Cameron is the 2019-20 Teacher of the Year for Grand County School District. 

Alanna was nominated as Teacher of the Year by school staff and selected by the Grand County Board of Education for being “invested in her students.”

Grand County School District Head Custodian Lydia Barnes is the 2019-20 Employee of the Year for the district. 

Lydia was nominated as Employee of the Year by school staff and chosen by the Grand County Board of Education for “Doing a great job at keeping the facilities up to date and in good working order.”

Online registration starts on Monday, June 8, for grade levels 1-12. All students need to register every year even if they are a returning student. Registration has not yet been announced for kindergarten, please stay tuned to HMK's website for an update later this month on kindergarten roundup.
